History of Travel Teaching Resource

The Kids' Travel Quiz

The Kids' Travel Quiz is essentially a questionnaire that's designed to help the children gather their own resources to help them in their project. The questionnaire has to be filled out by the child, the child's parents and grandparents. This should help them collate information covering three generations  of travellers. Click here for the quiz.

Kids & Travel

A recent piece of research by the children's television channel Jetix revealed:
  • Kids are THREE times better travelled than their parent were at the same age.
  • By the age of 12, kids have, on average, travelled 34,136 miles compared to their parents' 10,898.
  • 43% of kids aged 12 or under have clocked up enough miles for a trip around the world.
All this is obviously very important to our children's academic development as well. The resources on this site are meant to help teachers engage their students on the evolution of travel, to get them talking about new technology (space travel?), examining the past and possibly even speculating about the future.
